Ronny Chieng

Ronny Chieng was born 21 November, 1985. Non-primary source required is a Malaysian comedian and actor. Chieng is currently the senior correspondent of The Daily Show on Comedy Central. He also developed and is the star of the sitcom Ronny Chieng International Student, which premiered on ABC Australia (Australia) in 2017. Chieng was born to a Malaysian Chinese couple in Johor Bahru (Malaysia). Chieng grew up both in Singapore and in the United States, living in Manchester, New Hampshire from 1989 to 1994. Chieng was then asked to audition for the position as a correspondent for Noah's Daily Show two years after. In July of 2016 Chieng was named one of the 10 Comics to be watching by Variety In October, Chieng appeared on The Daily Show to give his response to a Jesse Watters Fox News segment deemed by many as racist. Chieng is known for his expletive-laden criticism of the show on the network that is conservative. He also revisited New York City's Chinatown the area where Watters had mocked residents and conducted interviews more respectfully in Mandarin and Cantonese. The viral video was covered by the Washington Post, Slate, as well as other media outlets. Chieng was a Singapore Sea Scout when he was a young teen. He has not been able to gain citizenship or permanent residence in Australia despite having lived in Australia for ten years. Chieng joked in 2018 that there was a phobia of cynophobia, however, he later said that he was 100 % unafraid of dogs.
