Susan Sarandon Bio

It was shortly following the 1968 Democratic convention There was an audition for a film which had many parts for youth who had disrupted the convention. Joe (1970) was auditioned in New York by two recent Catholic University graduates. Chris Sarandon, an actor who had studied, was rejected. His wife Susan was given the coveted role as Susan Compton who was the daughter of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). In the movie Dad Bill kills Susan's drug dealer lover and then becomes friends with Joe (Peter Boyle)who is an outspoken scumbag who works in an assembly line and who is a collector of guns.Five years after, Sarandon made the film where fans of cult classics have come to know her as Janet, who gets entangled with transvestite Dr. Frank n Furter in The The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). After more than 15 years, Sarandon finally actively campaigned for Annie in Bull Durham (1988), traveling from Rome to Los Angeles at her expense. "It had such a great script... It was able to do away with a lot myths, and challenged the American definitions of success" she stated. "I had a few hours there with Kevin Costner, sex some males in the studio and then got back on the plane. Tim Robbins, her Bull Durham (1988) actor, a supporting actor, was her first lover. He was father to two boys by 1992. This placed Sarandon in an awkward position. She would leave her home and take on roles that were truly challenging. Four Academy Award nominations were received in the 1990s. The award for the best actress was presented for Dead Man Walking (1995) was also given. Her first Academy Award nomination was for Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980).
